Volunteers are needed for a new study being done to see how drinking naturally derived sweeteners alone or in combination with glucose compared to water and glucose effects blood glucose, insulin, and some other gastro-intestinal hormone levels.
Participation in this study lasts about 5 weeks and may include up to 6 visits to our Ravenswood or Andersonville clinic. Depending on the weight group you are in, you will be given the option to complete an additional testing visit.
There is an initial visit to determine eligibility and if qualified you will return to the clinic for testing days. On testing days, you will receive each a treatment of placebo, glucose, artificial sweetener, and artificial sweetener plus glucose in random order on respective days.
Testing visits will last approximately four hours and will involve 8 blood draws over the course of the visit.
For your time and inconvenience related to your participation in this study, you will be paid up to a total of $380 upon completion of the study. Those participating in the optional visit will be compensated accordingly.
You may be eligible to participate if you are:
Between the ages of 18-50
Do not have difficulty with blood draws
In generally good health
