Alzheimer's disease and other dementias gradually diminish a person's ability to communicate. Communication with a person with Alzheimer's requires patience, understanding and good listening skills.
This month’s Dementia Caregiver Support group, led by Great Lakes Clinical Trials founder Steve Satek, will feature a special guest from the Alzheimer’s Association who will present on “Effective Communication Strategies”
Support groups create a safe, confidential, supportive environment or community and a chance for participants to develop informal mutual support and social relationships. They also educate and inform participants about dementia and help participants develop methods and skills to solve problems.

Steve Satek, President and Founder of Great Lakes Clinical Trials has more than 30 years experience in the clinical research field. He offers a diverse and thorough knowledge of clinical trial operations, which has been presented at over 25 industry conferences.
Steve currently serves as the Planning Committee Chairman for the Global Site Solutions Summit, one the clinical research industry's leading conferences. He is also an active member of Global Alzheimer's Platform, a patient-centric, non-profit organization dedicated to speeding the delivery of innovative therapies to those afflicted with Alzheimer’s.
Locally in Chicago, Steve has served on Board of Directors for the Swedish American Museum, the Board of Directors for the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce and is the current Chairman for the non-profit, Memory Care Coalition of Chicago.
